Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health is something that we don't often talk about. We talk about it but, perhaps not in a serious sense. There is still an odd stigma to those who suffer from various mental conditions. Getting help can be difficult, looking below are a few ways to seek help if you are struggling

One To One Therapy

The most common form of therapy, it in itself takes on many forms from counselling to meetings with psychiatrists. Obviously with us all being indoors the past year or so most of these visits have been done over the phone. But slowly regular Therapy is resuming.
These types of therapy often focus on looking at moments in your past with deep reflections on a one to one basis. This is normally done in a comfortable setting to ease those suffering from various mental health conditions.

Group Therapy

In a similar way to one to one therapy. Those in the therapy are encouraged to talk about their issues. However, these are instead discussed amongst groups of people who suffer from similar mental health conditions. These have been found helpful and when compared to one to one therapy session it entirely depends on which setting those who suffer from mental health issues feel comfortable in.

Art Therapy

A little more experimental than the two therapies mentioned above and coming in a variety of forms. We actually have a blog post that looks into Art Therapy with more depth if you wish to take a look. Art Therapy normally appears in a group setting with a therapist who specializes in the area heading the group.
The interesting thing about Art Therapy is that it can partially be used independently. Anyone can sit down and doodle. Obviously we would not recommend this in the place of professional therapy. But if you feel uncomfortable seeking help etching out whats in your head on paper can be incredibly helpful.
This can also extent to writing stories or making music. Art Therapy is incredibly varied and is gaining wider attention as time moves forward.

Talking To People

This one is simple, talk to people. Some people can find simply talking to friends or family can be an incredibly important step when dealing with mental health issues. This can also extent to discussing issues with people online in specific forums. Although few are set up specifically for this purpose and it is advised to seek professional help should it be needed.
