Illustrating The Perfect Scorecard

Intro

Very recently we got the opportunity to illustrate a brand new book written by Aleksandr Yampolskiy, Ph.D. The CEO and Founder of SecurityScorecard. This was an amazing experience and thought it would be nice to share it as the word of Visuals is so often left in mystery.

About The Book

The Perfect Scorecard takes an indepth look at the cybersecurity issues of the modern Business world and more importantly, how to deal with them. Working as a perfect guide for everyone from board members to CEO’s. The Perfect Scoreboard brings together 17 well versed Cybersecurity leaders and seeks out their important insights.

The book offers serious and usable advice that can be essential in an ever evolving Business world where Cyber-security can be a real struggle to maintain. Feel free to check it out at https://amzn.to/3k7xXxQ.

Ideation

To decide how we would illustrate the book we started by asking for a rough outline of the book. Then building up steadily chapter by chapter, page by page. At each step conversing what was being discussed and how SecurityScorecard wanted it to be Visualised. A key piece of Illustrating is ensuring that the SecurityScorecard is generating the ideas they want to see.

Once the designs for the illustrations we were doing were settled on we went away and worked on them before returning for feedback, again, ensuring that the SecurityScorecard was listened too and engaged with the work that was being created. This way any work that is created has the look and not only matches the text on the page but also the imagination of the people responsible for placing them there in the first place.

Why Visualise Your Book?

If you have an important message to deliver, it is scientifically proven that Visuals will help people to understand and remember it. 80% of the information that the human brain receives is entirely visual. This means by not adding visuals to your book or any information you want to push forward is missing out on alot of brain power.

Another reason to visualize your book is because it breaks up pages of text. This helps people read your book more in chunks. This can remove the intimidation factor some people face when they are reading books of varying levels.

Lastly, Visualizing your book simply makes it more vibrant and interesting. Your book will also stand out far more than plain text books that are normally marketed towards more mature audiences.

Conclusion

From our ideation sessions, where we designed our illustrations to match the extraordinary imaginations behind the Perfect Scorecard. All the way to seeing those illustrations amongst the text they were designed to visualize. Visualizing this book was an incredibly rewarding experience and we can’t wait for many more in the future.
