5 Things To Look Out For In 2023

The New Year is upon us, here’s 5 things to look out for in the coming year.

New Tech

This one almost seems like a given but the Pandemic has shown that the Digital Space, either with our more traditional set up, or in the metaverse. Is going to play a larger and larger role in our lives. Some Supermarkets have plans to convert their stores into Amazon-like Warehouses. Meanwhile many companies explore the idea of the Metaverse. It will be interesting what new advances are heading our way.

Twitter VS TikTok And (Possibly YouTube)

With Elon Musk’s Acquisition of Twitter and subsequent shakeup of the Company, he has expressed interest in bringing back Vine. This app allowed the rise of many Content Creators we know today and acted similarly to how TikTok does presently.

The Billionaire has also expressed interest in challenging YouTub in its current dominance. No matter your thoughts on Musk or how he runs Twitter. This could be an interesting time for Social Media, will his challenges bear fruit? Will he actually pursue these goals? Only time will tell.

TikTok Will Take Over The World (Or The Bubble Will Burst?)

TikTok is undoubtedly one of the most popular apps right now and its user base is only growing. However, many creators often find themselves unhappy with the app. Features such as the Creators Club which has been known to cause lower views and the App taking away well loved features such as Pinned Comments. Has left many attempting to move their audiences over to other platforms such as YouTube and Instagram.

Not to mention India banned the App which dropped a large number of users from the Platform. This could aid in the return of Vine but also spell doom for TikTok if Creators find success elsewhere. This is only worsened by Creators finding Videos where they share their other Platforms tend to do poorly. The future of TikTok may look poised to take on its rivals such as YouTube and Instagram, but its future may not be so certain.

Real World Events VS Virtual Events

With the Pandemic quickly fading into a distant Memory, the idea of Virtual Events may even sound silly. But as we looked at in the first section, people do prefer to stay home (Mostly) Could this mean that Real World Events slowly take a back seat as removing Travel Costs and the Price of Hotels can really help Virtual Events to take the lead.

Although Virtual Events are unable to recreate the Human Interaction of Real World Events.

YouTube And Instagram VS TikTok

TikTok is where everyone is looking in the world of Social Media. As it makes moves to rival the established order, many within that order look to emulate its success and even outcompete it. Instagram has been the most successful with Instagram Reels. This transition from TikToks to Reels is easy for Creators and Viewers alike, with some reporting ever higher views on Reels, enticing them to transition fully over to the Meta-Owned App.

YouTube has worked hard to push YouTube Shorts onto its Creators. Many of whom resisted at first but pushed from the Algorithm and easier Subscriber Growth has allowed YouTube Shorts to grow on its own. Although it remains to be seen if either App can truly challenge TikTok. That may require another competitor to enter the fray.
