5 Upcoming Art Events In London Coming Up This Year

If you're in London in the near future there’s a few art based events that you may be interested in. Below is a list of just a few of some of the upcoming Art Exhibits and Events that you can see right now, or in the coming winter months.

JAPAN: COURTS AND CULTURE

The Royal Collections showcases over 300 years of Cultural and Artistic exchange between the British Royal and Japanese Imperial families. There are porcelain and lacquer embroidered screens, diplomatic gifts and even Samurai Armour. 
These gifts go back as far as Kings James V Of Scotland and I Of England but some are also as recent as Queen Elizabeth II.

Milton Avery American Colourist

Considered to be one of the best Colourists in the 20th-Century to come out of North America. The Royal Academy holds the first comprehensive exhibition of Avery's work in Europe. 
This brings together around 70 of Avery’s Paintings, ranging from the 1930’s to 1960’s mainly featuring depictions of daily life. Some of the portraits portray beautiful depictions of the stunning landscapes from his visits to Maine and Cape Cod.

Walter Sickert at Tate Britain

Having helped to shape British Art as we know it today, Walkter Sickert is one of the most important artists of the 20th Century. In his lifetime Sickert would manage to strengthen the ties between Britain and France, continuing to influence contemporary painters to this day.
The creatively colourful and complex art is on display for all to see at the start of October at the Tate for all those who fancy taking a look at these astounding art pieces.

Picasso Ingres: Face to Face at the National Gallery

Picasso is a name most people are aware of, even if they aren’t too deep into the art world. This exhibit will, for the first time, bring Picasso’s ‘Woman With a Book’ will be brought together with its original inspiration. The ‘Madame Moitessier' by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres a French painter from the 18th and 19th Centuries.
The 100 year gap between the two men is brought tantalizingly close and well worth a view at the National Gallery.

Cornelia Parker at Tate Britain

One of the most loved and highly acclaimed contemporary artists Cornelia Parker shows off an amazing installation at the Tate. The exhibition shows some of her well known works such as Thirty Pieces of Silver and Cold Dark Matter: An Exploded View.
